One of the sad facts about playing this crazy game for so long is that among the friendships you build up there's a pretty good chance that you'll have to say goodbye to some of them.  This is one of those times.

For those that haven't already heard, our friend Mike (aka "Dbane") was found passed away at his home.  I don't have details other than to say that Anok grew concerned and phoned in a welfare check, and when emergency services responded they found him there.

Some of you may remember when he posted (here) that his wife was in the final stages of cancer.  I like to believe that they're enjoying each other's company again.

Rest well, Mike.

Hello everyone. This is Dbane's son, Michael.  I wanted to reach out here and thank you all for the friendship you gave my dad.  He talked to me, frequently, about many of you, and it's good to see names I recognize. I promise, only good stories.  (The rest I won't repeat).

I am currently looking for any media you may have of my dad, be it audio recordings, character pictures, boss takedown videos, anything he was involved in that touched anyone here.  I am also planning, as soon as I can, on keeping Dbane's Everquest alive, So he can continue to hard-carry everyone here (according to him) with his 16 accounts, per his unstated but obvious wishes.

I can't tell you all how much your friendship meant to him.  I can only point to his dedication to such an old game, and politely assume he wasn't here for the graphics.  I grew up watching some of you raid with him, and those memories, of stealing his office chair when he went for a snack, make me smile to this day.  Thank you for your friendship.  Hopefully I'll see some of you soon.

Hi Michael,

I've given you board access that should work fine for PMs. Hopefully some people have media.

I was trying to figure out when Dbane joined our guild. I actually can't find his application in the archives, it was so long ago (many years ago we did a board purge to clear up some space). He has 77% lifetime raid attendance. We've spent thousands, possibly tens of thousands of hours playing together. It's true that most of us don't play EQ for the graphics, we play it because of the people.

Michael, I'm so sorry for your loss.

The Discord server that we use isn't configured for recordings, so any audio from there would be from somebody's personal client.  I don't think any are terribly likely to exist, unfortunately.

I've a whole slew of screenshots, and I'll see if I can find anything significant that includes Dbane.  He'll probably be in the middle of a bunch of other guildies, but I suspect that's kind of what you're after anyway.  If anybody has anything they'd like to provide how can we get them to you?

my Email is Mporschien81@gmail.com, anything you have can be sent there.  I definitely want any pictures of his character anyone may have.  ill go through and pick a couple for the service, but selfishly I just want the rest for myself.  Any explanations of the pictures, why that moment was significant, ect, would be awesome as well.

So sorry for your loss, he will be greatly missed.  I hope you can log in and play and keep his memory alive.

I am so sorry for your loss.  Dbane was a good friend to me and we spent many hours working together on quests for so many years. Things that I would have never gotten thru without his help and still been behind today if he had not been there for me...

Rest well my friend, until we get to play again.

I apologize for the late post.  Mike was not just my EQ buddy but a very close friend.  We have known each other since working together as young college graduates through all the challenges and blessings that life can bring over 40 years.  While he died of natural causes, it was unexpected, most likely the result of health, age and an unfortunate combination of events.  Losing Mike is hard, but it has been such a great blessing to have known him for so many years.

Will be on soon.

Medimus or others, any progress on finding any media from the guild?  The deadline to add pictures for the service is tomorrow.  Also, thank you all for the kind thoughts and words about Dbane.

I just sent the three best I could find - which, unfortunately, isn't saying much.  I couldn't find any that had just him; all the ones I could find that had him in them were crowded with other players. :(
